The mystery about Del Sur's history is well hidden or it has never been written. 4S Ranch is well documented; Del Sur is not. A description will have to suffice.
Del Sur is a community of San Diego in North County. Since it is so close to 4S Ranch, it may be assumed that it was once grazing and farm land similar to its neighbor.
Del Sur may be easily accessed from I-56, turning left and heading north on Paseo Del Sur (the main artery of the community) stands a building called The Ranch House. Its purpose is to serve as a hub to the community of Del Sur, but people are rarely seen there, except for maintenance or gardeners.
Weddings/receptions have been held at the Ranch House, although it is believed the people who arrange the weddings must be homeowners within Del Sur. Homeowners are the crux of Del Sur. They are required to wear badges at various venues and events to prove they are legitimate residents.
From the Ranch House heading north on Paseo Del Sur, the homes are lovely and large, beautifully landscaped, and seemingly very peaceful and quiet. Del Sur Elementary school is on the right as you continue driving. Some apartments will appear on the left side of the street - some "real homeowners" may live there if they are condos, but maybe not. Continuing on, the dog parks are situated on the right. It is not known if being a homeowner is a requirement or not.
At the far end of Paseo Del Sur, the Target shopping center that includes excellent restaurants., a bike shop, and several small businesses. A Sprouts grocery store is just to the east of the Target center. It also includes several excellent restaurants, a dry cleaner, and a gym. Design 39 Middle school is across the street from Sprouts and Del Norte High School is a couple blocks up from that on the hill. The traffic at 9 am and 3 pm is gridlocked daily on school days.
There are Senior apartments near Sprouts and Target that provide a convenient location for residents to shop or dine.
A short trip east into 4S Ranch territory there is only one gas station.
Curious Observations About Del Sur
There is a golf cart that motors on the streets around Del Sur carrying and family members. Is there a golf course? Golfers would have to be homeowners to use it.
There is seating near the shopping centers that appear to be bus stops - however, no buses run anywhere in or near Del Sur. While there are wood structures (ceilings?) on top of each of the bus stop benches, they are open at the top, so there's no stopping the sun or rain.
