During my career as a Technical Writer/Illustrator, I worked for companies, such as Computer Sciences Corp, Sony, MIR3 (OnSolve), and others.
Apart from my full-time jobs, I worked joyfully as a freelance reporter and sports editor for the Community Newspaper Group/Beach & Bay Press. I researched and wrote news articles, conducted interviews, and took photographs. I never had an assignment, but went out into the community to discover what sports and people were happening on the weekends.
I also taught English at Ashford University, and ESL at Kaplan International.
I ran long distances for many years. My favorite distance was the Half-Marathon (13.1 miles), because I usually trained each day to run that distance and I could recover quickly after a race. Now I enjoy watching family members run competitively.
My education includes an A.A. in Psychology from Mesa College, a B.A. in Teacher Education from Concordia University (Irvine), a M.A. in English and a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from National University.
I am currently writing a memoir of my 4 years living and traveling in Europe with my family. We lived in Orleans, France for 1 year, and Karlsuhe, Germany for 3 years. My father worked in the Dependents' Education Group for military schools in Europe. Those 4 years were an amazing education.
I am a sports fan, and especially love the San Diego Padres baseball team - and of course I follow Track and Field and Cross Country locally and around the world.
I live in the Del Sur area with my two little dogs Bridgette, a Maltipoo, and Penny, a terrier mix. I couldn't have found any other two dogs that fit more perfectly into my life!
